We all love a beautiful Spring Home Tour. Join me and my friends and spend a little time getting pretty spring home decor ideas and ways to add spring inspiration to your home.

FRONT DOOR ON THE SPRING HOME TOUR

It’s Spring Home Tour Day! Yay! I’ve been so excited to open our front door and show you around! Since my last spring home tour, there are a few changes here at the Tanglewood House. So welcome! Our front door is open and we’ve been waiting for you!

ABOUT THE TOUR

I’m thrilled to be touring today with so many talented bloggers! A big thank you to my friend, Marty, at A Stroll Thru Life for organizing this big spring event! Marty is beloved in the blogging community! She is such a dear and special lady! Make sure to visit her and tell her I sent you!

If you are coming from Magnolia Lane, welcome! Christy and Ann have a blog full of decorating inspiration and more! Beautiful tours too! I just love the color of the inside of Amy’s front door and I think you will too!

SPRING WREATH

The buzzword for spring decorating this year is simple. I’ve been spring cleaning our home of decor clutter. It’s freeing! This spring I’m concentrating on the beauty of spring blooms and furniture with good bones!

Spring most often starts at our front door! A new homemade wreath on our door is my way of getting ready for spring! I like to think of it as our first happy Welcome to friends, family, and anyone who comes to visit!

The Cherry Blossom Wreath is one of the easiest wreaths I’ve ever made! You can see how to make it HERE.

THE SPRING HOME TOUR FOYER

The first stop on our spring home tour is the foyer!

The foyer has undergone quite a few changes in a year! You can see the evolution of our foyer HERE.

We added a new console table and a new mirror and brought up the sisal rug from the basement again as well as a lamp!

I have a basement that is full of area rugs and chairs and lamps. I seem to collect them. LOL!

The white console table is dressed up with pretty spring blooms!

For me, spring is always about flowers and blooming branches! And I’m celebrating them in our home this year!

Aren’t these little tête-a-tête daffodils just so sweet? They don’t last very long but they are such a joy to have in our home and enjoy them for the moment.

I put the pot they came in in a white Ikea pot and added moss to cover the dirt.

SPRING LIVING ROOM

The second stop on our spring home tour is our living room. It’s open to the stairs, upstairs loft, dining area, and kitchen. And the sunroom can also be seen from the living room.

living room spring tour

Our living room is gently decorated for spring this year.

I love to live with neutral decor. That does not mean I don’t love color. Oh, I do! But I like living in the peacefulness of the light neutrals.

One of my favorite ways to decorate for spring is with budding branches and other spring blooms!

Because this tour is a little early for budding branches I’m using beautiful faux branches to bring a bit of season into the living room.

The focal point of our room is the fireplace and mantel. This spring I decorated it lightly with white ginger jars filled with a few branches that are budding with spring green leaves.

The gather sign above the mantel echoes how we want our home to be a gathering place for friends and family. And the white tobacco basket is a gathering basket of sorts too! It’s all about hospitality and loving people, isn’t it!

The decor on the mantel is very symmetrical. And the symmetry carries down to the chairs and the windows and curtains! Our eyes love symmetry! And I use it often to bring a sense of order to my decor.

You can see a post about the importance of symmetry and how to use it in your home HERE.

Our mantel is very simply decorated for spring! A pair of white ginger jars, wooden candlesticks and white candles, and faux spring branches.

These branches have been part of our spring decor for years!

They used to be legitimate long-branch stems. But over the years I cut the branches apart. Now I have a bundle of budding leafy twigs that I use in different arrangements.

The spindle chairs on either side of our fireplace hold my latest decor obsession… the zebra pillows.

living room spring tour

I found the white pillow with the gold frame on a super sale at One Kings Lane. And then the zebra pillows went on a super sale. So I grabbed them up! They both came with really nice down inserts. You can a source for the zebra pillow below at the end of the post.

I just could not bring myself to put them away yet, so they are spring zebras! Who knew there was such a thing?

I’m just wild over this pillow, pun intended!

living room spring tour

On the white buffet, an urn holds my favorite spring branches! They are new to me this year!

The urn holds two branches.

They look so realistic!

Did you know that you can force real spring branches to bloom indoors? It’s really easy.

Now is the time of the year to coax sleepy branches to bloom. HERE is an informative post with step-by-step directions for forcing different kinds of branches that bloom in the spring.

I’ll be clipping redbud, dogwood, and lilac from our yard to force soon!

In the middle of the buffet is a trio of books that I covered in cheetah paper napkins. Aren’t they so sassy? I used white artichokes as bookends. It was so easy to cover these old books!

living room spring tour

I’m planning on covering my boatload of decorating books with some pretty napkins too! I want them to coordinate and work with my office decor.

You can see how to cover your old (or new) books with paper napkins HERE.

Our home is Transitional Style. This style might be your style too! It can be interpreted in so many ways. I love this superstyle! Our home has very classic styling, done in a slimmed-down way. And of course, it’s very neutral.

living room spring tour

Transitional style works with any style. French, Mid-Century Modern, Contemporary, Traditional, Farmhouse, and more! To learn more about this superstyle and how to create a transitional look in your home go HERE.

Another thing I’ve been really learning about lately is not to overdecorate! I have a tendency of wanting to fill all my flat surfaces with flowers and plants and candles and accents. Especially when I want everything in my home to look so pretty and be so inspiring to everyone who reads my blog.

However, doing that only fights with the focal point in my room and makes a room look cluttered!

Oh, how I wanted to put a vase of flowers on this chest. But, I remembered the overall look of the room is what’s important. Everything in a room needs to play nicely together and support the focal point.

I’m a recovering over decorator, friend!

living room spring tour

So I opted for a couple of candles and a small spring fern.

You can read more about the very common mistake of overdecorating and how to be a recovering over decorator like me HERE.

THE SPRING DINING AREA

The last stop on our spring home tour is our dining area!

living room spring tour

The dining area is the most open area in our home! The only full wall is the one with the windows.

This area is the perfect place to keep simple and not fussy!

living room spring tour

The table is new. Actually, this is the third table we have had in this spot. And it will be the last. Well, maybe the last… I hope!

When we moved here I used the breakfast nook table from StoneGable but it was too rustic. Then We got a rectangle table and it did not take me long to realize a round table worked best in this area.

And finally, I found this pretty Ethan Allen pedestal table with a big leaf and I think it is just about perfect for our dining area!

I am going to keep the chairs and paint the chair legs a lighter color.

Keeping things simple, I used a glass hurricane filled with white tulips. I have two of these glass hurricanes that usually hold candles, but I thought they would work for flowers too.

living room spring tour

Flanking the tulips are brass candlesticks in two different hues.

Our little spring tour is over! Thank you so much for spending time with me! I hope you are leaving with a couple ideas you can use to decorate your spring home!

Now, please head over to the next spring home.

You will love my friend Rhoda’s cozy southern home! Rhoda is a good friend and I could move right into her home! Head over to Southern Hospitality and tell Rhoda I said ‘hey”!

  4. Julia@Cuckoo4Design says:

Yvonne your beautiful home definitely gives the message of happy spring vibes! Love the tour.

  5. Yvonne, your home is perfect for spring because it is so light, bright, and clean! I love the new round Ethan Allen pedestal table…it fits that space so well and I’m a big fan of their quality and timeless styles. I also am an overdecorator that falls off of that wagon a lot, haha! I’m so happy to be on this tour with you!!

    1. I know what you mean about falling off the wagon! Living in such an open home does help me from getting too fussy with my decor.

    2. Rachel Cavanaugh says:

Beautiful and inspiring! Will you be continuing your “Downsizing” posts?

  6. Your touches of spring all through your post are lovely. I also went back and read your post on over decorating. I have come to that realization too. I am simplifying. I think it’s more because of my age than my decorator knowledge. I’m in my mid 70’s now and a nod to seasons and holidays is all I’m going to do except at Christmas. My daughter helps me with that?

  7. Wow, to have a basement full of fabulous rugs and accessories is amazing! Sounds like I need one of those. Your spring tour is so lively and beautiful. Love all the flowers but I really love how unfussy your areas are. Nothing is cluttered so it’s so peaceful. Enjoyed hopping with you this week. Happy spring!

  8. I love your home in any season! From one neutral loving girl to another 🙂 Happy Spring!

  9. Great blog and always enjoy your explanations and articles. I did not see the source for the zebra pillows. Are they still available?

  10. Yvonne, I always love visiting your gorgeous home, it’s so inspiring! I’m guilty of the over decorating thing haha! I’m a maximalist at heart! But I catch myself all the time thinking I better remove something! Just like Coco Chanel said – always remove something before leaving the house! Love your beautiful spring decor, you have such talent! Happy Spring! xo

  11. Of course… I’m in love with your decluttered spring look… though I would NEVER EVER call your decor ‘cluttered’. Love those new branches, and your dining area table looks GREAT! Your home always make me sigh! Pinned!

  12. Yvonne! Oh my goodness ! Everything looks beautiful ! Thank you for sharing the links . I am going shopping now! Is that EA table 48” or 60” ? I have their first version of it purchased 22 years ago and it came with two leaves . I am eyeing your size because my space is about the same . Now they only offer one leaf so wondering if yours is the 60” .
    Thank you so much .
    Fondly.,
    Rose

  13. Yvonne, I’m enjoying your spring tour so much, but I have to tell you I’m kinda going nuts over the new mirror in the foyer! I love all the changes you’ve made in this space and the fresh flowers are gorgeous too!

  14. Hi Yvonne! Your home is so fresh and inviting for spring! That cherry blossom wreath is one of my favorites!

  15. As always, love your simplicity with purpose. I’ve already added the tulips to my spring decor on a sideboard and decorated my 3 tier farmhouse tray for spring, with a nod to Easter. I added some multicolor hydrangea faux blooms to my larger off white hydrangea blooms for a hint of spring color. Just trying to find the right pillow covers to tie it all in. Of course! I continue to be inspired by your Home Made Lovely decorating course!

    1. Hi Deborah, I love how thoughtful you seem to be as you decorate for spring.

  16. Calypso in the Country says:

Your home is stunning as always! I love all the neutrals and whites with the splash of pink from the wreath on the front door. It all looks so fresh for spring!

  19. Love this post !!!!!!!! The cheetah books are so cool !! Where did you get he hello sticker on the front door. i want one for my mailbox. If my front door opened into a beautiful room like yours I would put a 8 FOOT HELLO sign out You outdo yourself in every post. Thanks

    1. Hi Rebecca, the front door is painted Seattle Mist by Benjamin Moore.

  20. Yvonne- your home looks fresh and beautiful for spring!
What is the paint color on your front entry door?
    Thanks, Diane

  21. Janie Landis says:

The link on “how to” make the wreath wasn’t available (page not found). Disappointing so could you make it accessible? Any chance of providing the link on the rug featured in the living room – diagonal design on a natural fiber it appears.
    Thank you.

  22. Your home looks stunning! Love all the neutrals! I need to watch over decorating trying to make it all look pretty1 Lol!
