Step inside, friend! So glad you are here!

WHITE ENTRYWAY AND SPRING DECORATING IDEAS

This year’s spring decorating ideas are all about greenery! I just can’t get enough of blooms and plants and it is certainly reflected in my spring decor. Real or faux, I am loving spring organics this year!

TWO FERNS IN WHITE POTS ON A WOODEN TABLE

This is our first spring at the Tanglewood house! When we lived at StoneGable I knew exactly what to take pictures of and what time of day worked best for photographing! What a big learning curve now!

An open concept home is far different from a modern farmhouse! I’m enjoying the challenge!

We have now lived at Tanglewood for 5 months and spring is turning out to be gorgeous here! Like all of Lancaster Co., our neighborhood and the golf course are almost in full bloom!

I just discovered we have a flowering apple tree out front! How lovely!

Let’s talk about the entryway first!

I keep things pretty simple here. I’ve tried to put 3 different benches under the framed verse and none of them looked right. This space just wants to be left rather minimal!

Right after we moved in I had this scripture verse made. It’s one of my favorite blessings and one we want to pray over everyone who enter in our door. So, I am praying this for you too!

WHITE ENTRYWAY WITH BASKET OF APPLE BLOSSOM BRANCHES

The blooming branches in the basket are apple, just like our tree.

SCRIPTURE VERSE IN A FRAME HANGING IN THE ENTRYWAY OF A HOUSE DECORATED FOR SPRING

My default decorating style is farmhouse but our new home is so open and the architecture is more modern. So now I’m leaning towards a much cleaner look. I’m still a farmhouse girl at heart but now my love of farmhouse shows through in decorative accents.

My style has transformed into a cleaner look. Less layer upon layer and more simple. With an open concept home, you can see almost everything at once so my new mantra is SIMPLICITY. Simplicity in color, layering, style, and furnishings.

We will see how this home evolves!

At the end of the long entryway is a very useful table! I love its farmhouse vibe! In the evening the lamp illuminates the hall and path to our master bedroom.

If you have followed StoneGable for any time this table might look familiar to you! And you are right. It came from the family room at StoneGable.

We have played a game of musical furniture in our new home! You can see what we took from StoneGable and where it is now in the Tanglewood home HERE. Because almost everything in our home is somewhat neutral almost all of the furnishing work together so I have been able moved them around!

BWT the pictures were in our upstairs sitting room off our master!

TABLE IN A HALLWAY WITH FLOWER PICTURES ABOVE IT

One of my favorite things to do no matter what home I’m living in is to tuck a few nests in my decor. It just would not seem like spring without a few nests gracing our home! This is one of my favorite spring decorating ideas.

TWO WHITE CERAMIC LANTERNS WITH A NEST IN FRONT OF THEM

I have a stash of plain nests and love to embellish them. So easy and they can be made to work with my decor. You can see HOW TO EMBELLISH A NEST HERE.

LITTLE NEST WITH BLUE EGSS IN IT ON A TABLE

The foyer opens up to the rest of the house. First the great room…

GREAT ROOM WITH LOTS OF SPRING DECORATING IDEAS
GREAT ROOM DECORATED FOR SPRING

And the great room opens up to our dining area and beyond!

Just have to add a little note: this house is BRIGHT! Lots and lots of windows and skylights. So pretty, but a bear to photograph! Another huge learning curve! Thanks for being understanding!

DINING ROOM DECORATED FOR SPRING

Let’s head to the great room for spring decorating ideas!

The fireplace is decked out for spring! The prints make the fireplace look a bit dramatic! So I softened it and continued the fern theme with faux ferns on the mantel!

Faux blooms and plants can be so lifelike! You can find a post about CREATIVE WAYS TO DECORATE WITH FAUX FLOWERS HERE.

SPRING MANTEL WITH LOTS OF SPRING DECORATING IDEAS

I got a big burst of creativity in late winter and decorated this mantel 6 ways for spring! You can see it HERE.

A MANTEL WITH TWO SOAPSTONE RABBITS ON BURLAP BOOKS

I am a firm believer that, when seasonal decorating (except Christmas), one should give a nod to the season and not dump the whole seasonal truckload into one’s home!

No judging if you do! I’ll just enjoy all the seasonal decor in your home!!!

I just couldn’t resist adding handsome rabbits to the mantel!

One of my favorite all-time accessories is my gray urn. I picked it up at HomeGoods ages and ages ago. It was love at first sight! You know… when you see something that is so gorgeous you would almost fight someone for it!!!!! Not really, but you get the point!

I immediately put the gray urn in my shopping cart. IT WAS UNDER $30.00!!!!! A decorating miracle, friends! I did the happy dance all the way home. I still feel that way about it all these years later. It has become an iconic StoneGable accessory!

URN FILLED WITH TULIPS

The tulips in it are faux. You could probably tell so close up. But how about now?

WHITE BUFFET WITH A BIG CLOCK ABOVE IT

And even this close? If I had not pointed out the tulips were faux, you probably would not have noticed!

Embrace faux!!!!!

PRETTY GRAY URN FILLED WITH WHITETULIPS

Do you love pillows? Oh, I sure do!!!! One of the easiest things to do to change the look of a room is to change up its pillows.

TRIO OF SPRING PILLOWS

When it comes to pillows I like to use lighter colors, more texture and fun accents for spring and summer.

I’m wild about indoor/outdoor pillows! They have such great details. I love to use them all over our home!

Love the texture and the POM-POMS!!!!! Lots of pillow love here!!!!

SPRING PILLOWS
GREAT ROOM DRESED UP FOR SPRING

From the great room let’s move to our dining area…

GREAT ROOM LOOKING INTO A DINING AREA

Do you notice something different in the eating area?

DINING TABLE WITH A TIERD TRAY FULL OF SPRING THINGS AND PLANTS

Yes, spring is certainly blooming here. But did you notice the CONCRETE table?

The hardest thing to let go when we downsized was our concrete dining room table! I cried for two weeks! Seriously!!!!!

But I found another concrete table just right for this area! I’m thinking about painting the legs because I think the legs are a bit heavy. So I’ll paint them or have a local artisan turn new legs!

Either way, I’m so happy I found another concrete topped table.

You can get a tiny peek at the sunroom to the right in the picture below. The kitchen is to the left.

DINING ROOM TABLE DECORATED FOR SPRING

The tiered round tray is the focal point in the dining area! And it’s full of pretty spring elements!

TIERED TRAY FILLED WITH HERBS AND TULIPS

I just can’t wait to dig in the dirt and try my hand at container gardening this spring! But it’s still a bit too early here. So for now, I have herbs planted in cute little pots! The sun pours into the window here so they should be fine until I repot them on the patio! Now I just need to remember to water them!

LITTLE WHITE POTS FILLED WITH HERBS AND CONTAINERS OF ORANGE TULIPS
POTS OF HERB S AND TULIPS

I adore orange tulips! So they are the pop of color in our neutral home this spring! And they are the real deal!

We are pretty much staying at home these days but I did slip out to a local farm market for bread, eggs, and tulips!

A MIX OF HERBS AND ORANGE TULIPS ON A DINING ROOM TABLE
A BIG PITCHER OF ORANGE TULIPS ON A BAR CART

I’m not sharing the kitchen because it won’t be done until this summer. We will see how all the Coronavirus mess turns out. Safety before beauty! We did have our third meeting with the designer to pick out molding and glass and countertop and hardware and more. I’m just so excited to get started!!!! I love the look of Calcutta marble. We are looking at white marble that has warmer tones of caramel and ivory with just a taddy bit of gray.

Unfortunately, there is no kitchen to tour, but you can peek at the most recent makeover here. Our sunroom…

SECTIONAL WITH SPRING PILLOWS

The sunroom has windows on three sides with just the prettiest views of our golf course and a horse farm and Lancaster countryside! However, the room itself is small and boxy with the forth wall almost completely opening to the dining area. It also has a cathedral ceiling.

I fell in love with this room and its views!

SUNROOM DECORATED FOR SPRING

This room is done except for the planking on the cathedral ceiling. Again, we might have to wait a little while to get the workers in here to do it.

You can see a SUNROOM SPRING TOUR and Tips for decorating small rooms HERE.

I know the world is a bit crazy right now, to say the least. I hope this spring tour has given you some doable spring decorating ideas and has brightened your day!

Stay safe and calm and please visit another beautiful southern girl, my sweet friend Kristy at Kristy Little My Southern Home! You will love her and her classic southern traditional style! Tell her I said Hi!

HAPPY SPRING and lots of love to all of you!

  1. your mantle looks gorgeous- love the fern art! and i love the pops of orange tulips- that little scene is my favorite!

  2. Audra taber says:

Good morning, I was noticing your curtains on your larger windows. I’m trying to hang some curtains on my windows but I don’t want to cover the window. Is there a width or rule that you use for the panels on the windows when just hanging them on the sides of the window but not actually using then to cover the window? Thank you!

    1. Hi Audra, we hung the curtain in the sunroom to bring a bit of fabric softness to the room without obstructing the view. I don’t think there is any hard and fast rule. However, you might want to check if you have enough room on either side of the window so the curtains are not bunched up or crowded. And of course my curtain hanging mantra is HANG THEM HIGH SWING THEM LOW. I created a post about hanging curtains that you might find helpful. Here it is:https://www.stonegableblog.com/what-to-know-about-hanging-curtains/

  3. Cheryl Page says:

Just wondering, where you got your new dining table from?

  4. So lovely! And such a happy look. I’m so glad you got another concrete table. But, I do love the legs with all of your other textures and floors. It’s such a good mix of the concrete and warmth. It’s all so beautiful. Enjoy!

  5. You are turning Tanglewood into such a wonderfully warm and inviting home. I adore your neutrals with touches of color and texture. All the flowers are so pretty and my favorites are the orange tulips. I always choose orange or yellow, so these really caught my eye. Thanks so much for sharing your home and for joining the tours this season.

  6. Your home is like a breath of fresh air! I love the spring touches. It’s such a delight to be on tour with you!

  7. Diane Dainis says:

Have you shown your new kitchen on this home yet?

    1. Like I said, we are still waiting to begin. Read all about it in the body of the post, Diane!

  8. Thanks for the tour Yvonne! I miss Lancaster in the spring! Even the smell! LOL.

    1. Hi Mandy, it really does smell like spring here, lots of manure! lol!

  9. I immediately noticed the new dining table! Tulips are high on my list of favorite flowers, and I am drawn to the lovely tangerine color. Another change I liked was the addition of the leopard pillows in the great room. Down the road, when you need a change, your faux zebra rug will be so dramatic layered over the sisal rug again. Takes you back to your Stonegable house, doesn’t it? Still loving seeing your decor progression in your new home!

    Stay safe!

    1. Thanks, Bunny! I know you have been part of the StoneGable family for a long long time!

  10. Beautiful beautiful decor. Your home looks like my dream layout. I can not wait to see your kitchen. Be will all.

  11. karthryn stewart says:

Where did you get the beautiful framed ferns?

    1. Hi Kathryn, they came from a company called 3R Studio. Hayneedle sold them but I don’t see them anymore. Sorry!

  12. Deborah Hoover says:

Love the fern prints!! Can you share where you found them? Thanks! I live in York and enjoy your blog very much!!

    1. Hi Deborah, I found these at Cocalico Home Designs on rt 30 in Lancaster. Hope this helps.

  13. Your home is absolutely gorgeous!! I love the simplicity and elegance at the same time. Thanks for sharing:)

  14. I saw almost the exact, if not the same concrete table, in a pop-up ad while on Pinterest moments ago at Pottery Barn. It was on sale for around $1900+.

  15. Yvonne, you wasted no time turning Tanglewood into a beautiful home. Its all so bright, and pretty. love all the light streaming in, particularly in the sunroom. Big hugs to you and to your hubby. Miss you!

    1. Hi my sweet friend! Oh, I hope Haven is still on. I would love to visit! I miss you too!

  16. Cecilia from Georgia says:

Everything is so clean and neat! You have such a great talent and gift for decorating. Glad to see you were able to find another concrete table! I do think the legs need lightening up, maybe a weathered gray look. I can’t wait to follow along as you build a new kitchen. Thanks for showing off your lovely home.

  17. MARY-ANN (FROM CANADA!) says:

The views that you have of the golf course from your sunroom are just so nice. Your new table in your dining room is lovely. So nice you were able to find another one! Your home is just so bright and you have created such a cozy feeling in every room. Love how you have done the mantel. You have given me such great ideas for ours. Again, Yvonne, thanks for giving us such wonderful decorating ideas! Have a great weekend! Bless you!

  18. Julie Peper says:

Yvonne — LOVE SO MANY AREAS at your Tanglewood home! I am hoping you will soon publish your resources… In particular, the new dining table, the prints over your console table and the faux ferns. Your home is welcoming and fresh for Spring!

God bless you for your inspiration, Godly words and keeping your followers positive and marching on during our homebound time.

    Julie

  19. I always enjoy seeing the beautiful things you do! I am really loving all the planters on your dinning table. Where did you find them? Suzy

    1. Hi Suzy, they came from a local shop. Sorry I do not have a source.

  20. Yvonne, your tour is so pretty! I love every little touch and layer of Spring! All so inspiring!

  21. Your home is beautiful, so calming and serene in this crazy time. It is such an inspiration. Would you mind sharing where you found the lovely tiered tray? Thank you and have a blessed day!

  22. Bonnie Evansn says:

Good morning! I’m so inspired by your decorating talent and love your new home at Tanglewood. Would you please share what you have done or give some examples of decorating a great room with a tv? So many decorators don’t show tvs in pictures of their homes but it is the mainstay in many homes today and can big a decorating challenge, especially with the large tvs. Thank you.

    1. Hi Bonnie, Our great room is not where we put our tv. However, it is in the sunroom and I’ll do a post on that soon. Thanks for the great idea!

  23. Where did you find that darling basket to hang on the front door? LOVE it!

  24. I love your new home! I live in a great room house myself. It was an adjustment at the start for sure but has turned into the perfect home.
Your home is as beautiful as ever. I like the new white, simpler style as Tanglewood. What a fortuitous find! I know you loved your previous cement table and now you have a smaller version. How about sanding the darker stain off the legs and see if you like that better. If not, you could paint them later.

    1. Hi Joanna, thank you for your sweet comment about Tanglewood. I am thinking of painting the legs of the dining area table. We will see!!!

  25. Is that scripture verse available to order or did you get it locally? That’s one of my favorite verses, too. When we lived in another state, our pastor used to pray it over us as the benediction. Your home is lovely. My husband just retired and we’re starting to prepare for a move to a warmer climate. It’s been so helpful to watch your transition from Stone Gable to Tanglewood.

  26. I just love the Scripture from Numbers you have in your entry way , can you share where you had that made ?
Thank you so much , your house is so pretty !

  27. Oh Yvonne, Tanglewood is a haven of peace and tranquillity. Your neutral decor and charming nods to Spring are a delight to see. Thank you for sharing your home, knowledge and time. Blessings to you, Bobby and your family ??

  28. Your home is a dream home; so cozy & bright. Thank you for sharing it with us. Do you have a source for the tall fern on the mantel? It looks so real!

    1. Hi CathyAnn, thank you so much for your sweet comment! The fern was from a local shop.
