Velvet And Chinoiserie Pumpkin Centerpiece
Velvet pumpkins and Chinoiserie are a combination made in fall heaven. They both evoke a feeling of luxury and refinement. They make such a beautiful statement, especially together! I’m adding hues of browns and sable with the blue and white for a muted, soft fall arrangement. I’ll show you how easy it is to create one fabulous centerpiece for fall!
Here’s my velvet and chinoiserie pumpkin arrangement…
If you don’t care to use orange in your fall decor there are so many options these days that will certainly give you an amazing fall look without the saturated color. And there are so many gorgeous silk velvet HOT SQWASHÂ pumpkins at LoveFeast Shop.
I happen to adore orange and all the fall colors but this fall I’m in love with the color combo of blue and white and browns.
It’s really all about how you mix colors. This centerpiece would have looked much different if I used lots of white with some blue and just a tad of brown.
But I wanted to show off the gorgeous colors of acorns and pinecones and all those beautiful sable colors I see in the fields around StoneGable.
The centerpiece was really quite easy to put together. Let me give you a few tips so you can make one for yourself.
I wanted this centerpiece to have a brambly look. Fall is a great season to do “brambly”!
I started off with a large white cake pedestal. I collect them so I chose the largest one I had.
Then I laid down a nice layer of crinkly brown paper. This makes a nice base for whatever you put on top of it and also give the centerpiece a nice “loose” look.
Depending on the colors in your arrangement you can also use…
- moss
- Spanish moss
- straw
- other colored crinkle paper
- feather boa
Underneath all the pumpkins I used pinecones (the long skinny kind) as a riser. Pinecones make great filler in arrangements of any kind! I keep a big box of them just for this use.
The next thing added to the centerpiece was the big 8″ pumpkin in denim. It came from the blue velvet pumpkin set HERE. The velvet pumpkins are quite heavy and full and stayed wherever I put them in the arrangement.
To expand the base I wedged a few long pinecones under the blue velvet pumpkin. These pinecones help to balance the other pumpkins I added to the arrangement.
Then I worked around the base and added velvet, chinoiserie and white pumpkins along with more pinecones.
I made the chinoiserie pumpkins and will have a diy post about them later this week.
Once the pumpkins and pinecones were in place I added more brown crinkle paper and “fluff”. I have clear plastic boxes full of different fall “fluff”. I used pinecones and brown leaves and acorns and other fall bits and pieces.
These little fall accents work to fill in the gaps and give that brambly look I love so much!
Here are other some things you can add to an arrangement to fill it in…
- berries
- leaves
- acorns
- tiny pinecones
- bleached pinecones/ painted pinecones
- deer sheds
- flowers
- seeded eucalyptus
- feathers
- magnolia leaves (these look great with pinecones)
- bittersweet
- cat o nine tails
- dried hydrangeas
- fairy lights
- small moss or willow balls
The finishing touch was the large 10-inch pumpkin in Latte velvet with Ginger feathers beside the arrangement. I think the plummed feathers are magnificent! They are over-the-top luxurious!
Spilling elements of any arrangement next to it makes your centerpiece look extra special! Your eye will travel across the arrangement and then down on the horizontal surface you have it on. And our mind thinks this is so pleasing!
I buddied up a chinoiserie pumpkin and another tiny blue velvet pumpkin with the large velvet pumpkin. And added brambles, acorns and pods.
You can see the large velvet collared pumpkin and all the color choices HERE.

Beautiful Yvonne. This has to be my favourite arrangement that I have seen you create. Sadly it is Spring in Australia, but I am greatly inspired for our Autumn in March!
Definitely a beautiful arrangement. Sadly, it is not affordable for the majority of people.
Make them something to collect over the years. I’ve been collecting for several years now.
So very beautiful Yvonne…I remember covering my glass pumpkin (the ones you used to get at Dunkin Donut filled with Munchkins) with beautiful chinoiserie paper…it truly made me smile!…and your arrangement is doing just that!!!

The Indigo Velvet Pillow with PomPom is very nice.
I love the pumpkins in the blue bowl, so pretty
Hello Yvonne,
Love, Love, Love this arrangement. Your arrangement last year using traditional fall colors was so beautiful that it inspired me to purchase the pumpkins and a beautiful (not as beautiful as yours) blue pedestal bowl.
I did not think I would ever see another arrangement as beautiful, but yours this year is just as beautiful.( It make some swoon.) I am now on the mission to duplicate it. I have never used a lot of blue in my home, but have started adding blue accents in my decor. So your arrangement is perfect. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful God given gift of decorating to those of us who need to be inspired. You are truly an artist.
Esther
Forgot to ask……… when are you sharing the tutorial on the chinoiserie pumpkins????

BEST post EVER!!! Love everything about these pictures.
Love velvet pumpkins and all the ideas!
I am loving the blue, white and brown. When I started getting my fall decorations out it seemed a little drab to me. I’m definitely going to add some different colors this year!
I would love to find a similar blue and white pedestal centerpiece like the one you used in the first velvet pumpkin display with the orange pumpkins. Do you know where it came from?
The whole centerpiece is exquisite! Love the blue velvet!
I love the Brambly tablescape. Isn’t fall the most luxurious time to decorate? Sweet little velvet pumpkins…
Fall is my FAVORITE!
I love your site and your posts. Unfortunately the discount listed did not apply due to it having expired in 2018 when I tried to purchase velvet pumpkins, bummer.
Yes, Look for a new velvet pumpkin giveaway coming this fall! I said this was an archived post… aka older post.
These photos take my breath away. I love all the pumpkins. Cannot wait to visit the Lovefeast website. I love the use of blue. My living room decor is based on oranges and terracotta. The blue is a great accent color. Thanks for sharing.
Oh my goodness! What gorgeous pumpkins! And so creatively arranged! Thank you for sharing! I am looking forward to “copying” several of those ideas!
Hi Julie, I’m thrilled you are finding fall inspiration here at StoneGable! Yay!
Hi!
Getting ready to put FALL inside our home.
Love decorating with my pumpkin collection.
Would appreciate a copy of your free printable of the single large pumpkin so I can frame it.
You always inspire me to do try different looks throughout our home.
Thank you so much.
Hope that printable is still available?
