And this month our challenge is all about a fall cloche idea!

Our inspiration comes from Beth at Home Stories A to Z! You can see her post HERE.

So pretty, right?

MY FALL CLOCHE IDEA

And here’s how Beth inspired me…

A PRETTY FALL ARRANGEMENTS MADE FROM WHITE PUMPKINS, GREEN HYDRANGEAS AND A CLOCHE

I love white pumpkins and hydrangeas! They are a perfect fall match!

I have several cloches in the basement and chose one that I could fill with some of the white pumpkins I’ve painted over the years!

You can see how easy it is to PAINT PUMPKINS WHITE HERE.

I’m a bit addicted to white pumpkins and this easy method will transform any pumpkin into stunning white!

THE EASY WAY TO CREATE A VIGNETTE

To make this vignette I called on one of my favorite interior design tips, the rule of three!

You can learn about THE RULE OF THREE HERE. It will help you be a better decorator!

SHOWING HOW THE CLOCHE VIGNETTE WAS BROKEN DOWN INTO THREE SEGMENTS

This light and airy fall cloche idea groups things in threes. If you learn how to use this one designer trick you can almost guarantee a fabulous outcome in your decor

HOW TO THINK IN THREE’S

Breaking down any kind of vignette or arrangement into a grouping of three will really help you!

Here are a couple ways I broke down the fall vignette into threes…

  • three groupings: the cloche with the pumpkins
  • the white cache pot with the hydrangeas on the breadboards
  • and the two white pumpkins

And here’s another group of three…

  • pumpkins
  • hydrangeas
  • wood

And yet another is according to color (I use this so often)

  • white
  • green
  • woodtones

TIPS FOR FILLING A CLOCHE

There are a few tricks and tips for filling a cloche with pumpkins…

  • use faux pumpkins- the real ones give off too much moisture and will make the inside of the cloches sweaty
  • use assorted sized of small pumpkins or other fall elements to help fill in the gaps
  • overfill the cloche just slightly with pumpkins so when they settle the cloche will be totally full!
  • start adding a layer of pumpkins next to the glass first and fill in the middle, then keep repeating.

Using the rule of threes creates a curated look!

To make this fall vignette I started with my biggest cloche and filled it with pumpkins. There is a bit of a trick to filling a cloche and the tips above will help you a lot!

Bobby helped me hold the cloche so I could take this picture. Thanks, honey!

SHOWING HOW TO FILL A CLOCHE

Little white pumpkins looks so pretty in a cloche on a cake stand pedestal, don’t you think! And it was so so easy!

CREATING THE SECOND PART OF THE VIGNETTE

Once the cloche was filled with pumpkins, I worked on the second part of my fall cloche idea… a big pot of drying hydrangeas. Oh, I love hydrangeas!

A fall vignette with white pumpkins in a cloche and green hydrangeas

The hydrangeas came from our front garden. They are just about ready to dry so I brought them in and used my favorite method to finish the drying process.

To learn HOW TO DRY HYDRANGEAS BEAUTIFULLY GO HERE. I’ve had lots of success with this method.

I wanted to add a bit of height and a little wood tone warmth to the white cache container of hydrangeas so I stacked two medium-size European breadboards under the hydrangeas.

I think they work with the base of the cloche too!

And the cutting boards had enough room for a white pumpkin that was part of the third grouping that made up this fall cloche vignette.

WORKING ON THE THIRD PART OF THE VIGNETTE

The last grouping of three were the white pumpkins outside the cloche.

I think this little white pumpkin is just so adorable! Because it has such a fun faux stem I used it as a stand-alone pumpkin!

DON’T FORGET THE DETAILS

The last thing I did to add a bit of “pretty” to this fall cloche vignette was to embellish it with a few clipped hydrangeas. When they take on a saturated look I think their florets are little works of art!

Use the same step I did to make my fall cloche vignette and put your own special spin on it to use in your home this fall!

I absolutely LOVE these ideas, the cloche is just beautiful! I have one that I love to change out for the seasons. Right now I am painting some white faux pumpkins, and using soft oranges, soft blues and greens – very toned down. I’m loving more neutrals as I get older, and hydrangeas! I have been able to find some very pretty faux ones that I can mix and match, to use all year long!

    1. I know there are gorgeous faux hydrangeas! And they will work for years and years for all seasons. Smart girl, Karen!
