ON THE MENU JAN 31ST

Need dinner ideas? I have a week's worth of scrumptious dinner menu and other must-make delicious recipes too! Main dish recipes, side dishes, soups, bread recipes, salad recipes and lots of yummy desserts. Here's what's on the menu this week...

This week’s menu and recipes are full of warming and hearty flavors! I must admit I’m very anxious for the fresh flavors of spring and look forward to them. But white snows on the ground I’m making lots of soups, stews, and oven meals. And my slow cooker is getting a workout this week! Let’s eat good food!

So let’s see what’s on the menu week of Jan 31st…

MONDAY- SLOW COOKER DAY

Pork and sauerkraut is a religion in Lancaster Co. It’s on every diner and family restaurant in our area! And we take it very seriously! Of course, Lancaster Co has lots of ties to our German roots!

So I make pork and sauerkraut in the slow cooker so the pork (shoulder) has time to literally fall apart. This so so yummy recipe from Mira at Cooking LSL is very close to mine!

This is for you Bobby!

TUESDAY

Tonight’s main dish is such a beautiful looking recipe from one of my favorite foodie blogs, The Recipe Critic!

l love the idea of using fat-free Greek yogurt to add creaminess to a dish!

WEDNESDAY- FAMILY DINNER

I’ve made this scrumptious salmon recipe from Cooking Make Healthy a few times and we just love it!

My sister Lisa is in town so I’m having my Mom and her for dinner tonight! And I have some pictures of when we were little to share! Oh, what fun!

THURSDAY- SLOW COOKER SOUP

I’m making the most wonderful and easy soup tonight! And it’s so so easy!!!!

I’m trying to make more soup-for-dinner-and-then-for-lunch meals because Bobby likes to take a container to work!

Chicken Taco Soup is a beautiful, delicious and flavorful soup that is so family friendly and filling!

Just dump all the ingredients in your slow cooker and let it cook on low for 6 hours. YUM!

I LOVE to make my own crispy tortilla chips for the top of the soup. Easy and really crunchy good!

FRIDAY

Crescent rolls have some kind of magical hold on me! It must be from my childhood. We had crescent rolls for special occasions like Christmas and Easter! I love bread and those refrigerator section crescent rolls are my favorite!

Thanks, Living Well Spending Less for this fun and easy recipe!

SATURDAY- SOUP DAY #2

This soup will be a favorite of my Bobby’s! He loves anything Italian. I’m making this for him to take to work next week! YUM!

The Cozy Apron is a wonderful foodie site! It’s one of my go-to sites for amazing recipes!

SUNDAY

My young formative years were spent growing up in Scottland and England. And I came to love fried fish and chips wrapped in newspaper. But I never got on board about malt vinegar. You can take the girl out of America but you cannot take the tartar sauce out of the girl!

A beautiful recipe from Berry And Maple

TREAT OF THE WEEK

I am so excited about this frosty and easy sweet treat this week!!!! Even though I’m not a big sweet eater, I do love cookies and ice cream!

One ice cream sandwich is only 2 points.

Thanks so much to Kleinworth And Co. for the great fun treat!

  1. The pork and sauerkraut is confusing. It looks so good but am I to use bottle kraut or chopped cabbage? Thanks.

    1. Hi Mary, Mira is talking about bottled or bagged sauerkraut. She was just commenting that she chops it up finely. Just dump it right out of the bottle or bag right into the slow cooker. Hope this helps.

  2. Hello, All of these recipes look delicious! I made your chicken taco soup last week and it was wonderful! My husband loved it too, which is always a plus! Thanks, Robin

  3. Love those soup recipes! And your new profile pic is beautiful.
