On The Menu March 14th

Need dinner ideas? Here's a week's worth of scrumptious dinner recipes plus more! Delicious main dishes, side dishes, vegetables, salads, desserts and breads!

I’ve been in such a cooking mood lately! I’ve been making chicken bone broth and trying new menus! Some of the recipes this week are new to me but some are ones I’ve made before and love! Why not make something new this week for dinner? You just might find a recipe that becomes a family favorite! Welcome to On The Menu March 14th!

Let’s get cooking! Here’s what’s on the menu…

MONDAY

This delicious comfort food chicken from Jamie Cooks It Up is perfect for an early spring weeknight dinner!

The big secret ingredient in this yummy chicken is Ritz crackers. They make a fabulous crusty coating for the chicken. I’ll forgo the cheese and just use crushed crackers. So excited to make this!

TUESDAY

I’ve been so hungry for salmon lately! Grilled, baked, pan-fried, air fryed, cakes, fillets, steaks, and more! Tonight’s salmon is simple and beautiful, my favorite way to make it!

Thanks, Tabia from Cooktoria for this scrumptious recipe!

WEDNESDAY- SOUP DAY

I’ve made this soup two times in the last week. It is that good! And here it is again ON THE MENU! What an easy soup to make and very healthy. I’m making a double batch so Bobby can take some for lunches.

Because he loves mushrooms, I doubled the mushrooms, added an extra chicken breast (actually I put them in raw when I added the chicken stock), and at the end put in an additional cup of stock. What a fabulous soup that eats like a meal!

Thank you Closet Cooking!

THURSDAY- SLOW COOKER DAY

Chili is a staple here at StoneGable! And I don’t feel quite right if I don’t have containers of it in the freezer!

Chili needs time for the flavors to marry together. So what better way to make it than a slow cooker.

Because chili is quite forgiving I’ll almost always double this recipe and freeze a bit for lunches and when I just don’t feel like cooking!

I make this recipe often. It freezes so well! So I like to have a few servings on hand.

FRIDAY- DATE NIGHT MEAL

One of our favorite pasta dishes here at StoneGable is Pasta Carbonara! It’s easy to make and oh boy, is it delicious!

Tonight we are having a quick Pasta Carbonara and a big Greek salad. YUM!

If you make one thing this week please try this! The recipe is an O-L-D one but the recipe is so so delicious!

SATURDAY

I think a great steak is something every home chef should learn to make! It’s really easy and wow, does it taste fabulous.

And while it’s resting, making a pan sauce to go over it is another must-know skill! Without a doubt, if you have a great piece of steak you can prepare it as well as any restaurant!

Thanks to the Stay At Home Chef. I love the way she shows us how to make a great pan-seared steak!

SUNDAY

I made this wonderful chicken recipe for company dinner about a month ago and it got rave reviews! It is so good and really easy to make!

This will become a favorite of yours too! YUMMY! A really delicious recipe from Eatwell 101.

SWEET TREAT OF THE WEEK

I’m making a big batch of these darling little hand pies. I first made them for Valentine’s day but I really love them any time.

I’ll be adding tart cherries to these sweet little hand pies.

  1. Yvonne, Thanks for some great meal ideas for the end of March. I am going to make some of your Irish soda bread which will be appreciated by my family. Just saw it priced at 5.99 a loaf at our grocery store and passed on it knowing how easy it is to make and economical too. Also will be making some Irish stew to enjoy this weekend which is forecast to be windy and cold here in N.C.

  2. Your recipes sound amazing! I tried to go to the creamy mushroom chicken soup recipe, but the link doesn’t work. 🙁

  3. I am having trouble accessing the mushroom soup recipe link. Do you mind copying and pasting the recipe? It sounds so good! We are expecting some snow in Texas today, believe it or not, and this would be great for dinner tonight.

  4. Carol Mine says:

I would like to try the Ritz cracker chicken but instead of the oven I would like to try it in the air fryer. Do you have a suggestion for temperature and time. The air fryer is new to me so converting from oven to fryer is a challenge. Thanks!

  5. Hi Yvonne! Thank you for another round of wonderful recipes. My husband and I both enjoy looking through and choosing several to make during the upcoming week, and we have quite a collection of favorites now. The link to the chicken mushroom wild rice soup doesn’t work. Can you please tell me where I can find it? Thank you so much!

  6. Hi Yvonne, I am trying to locate the recipe for the Mushroom chicken wild rice soup. When I click on it, it appears to be blocked. Can you give me a work around? It looks and sounds delicious.

  7. You post so many great menu suggestions and recipes. Some years back, you posted a recipe for a “one pot pasta “. I have prepared this several times and it’s always a hit. However my printed copy has gone missing from my recipe file. If you come across it, please include it in one of your weekly menus. I have been unable find in your recipe archive.
