On The Menu Week Of August 1st
Need ideas for dinner this week? I have 7 scrumptious dinner menus and 35 delicious recipes just for you! Main dishes, side dishes, salads, soups, breads, desserts, and great tips and ideas for making every meal its best! Here's what's On The Menu week of July 25th.
Ah, summer! Our menu reflects what’s growing locally! Tomatoes, corn, zucchini, tons of fresh herbs, and more! Life is in full summer swing here in Lancaster County and we are eating lots of seasonal fruits and veggies. Here’s what’s on the menu…
We have lots of garden tomatoes in our backyard! And that means they will be showing up A LOT on the menu. I don’t eat tomatoes all year until I can get them locally or grow them ourselves and then I go crazy! I think there is nothing like a fresh local tomato! Oh, yum!
Lots of good eats this week…
MONDAY- MY FAVORITE CHICKEN
Grilled chicken is on tonight’s menu. The best way to grill BBQ chicken is with a BBQ rub. A rub doesn’t burn like BBQ sauce and does not drip off! I have a rub that is magical! No wonder it’s known as Magic Dust Rub!!!!! I make a bunch and keep it in the pantry!
If you make one thing this week, make it a batch of Magic Rub! Use it on chicken, beef, pork, and fish. Even veggies taste better when they’ve been sprinkled in a bit of Magic Dust Rub and grilled to perfection!
- GRILLED CHICKEN WITH BBQ MAGIC RUB
- ZUCCHINI TOTS
- THE BEST POTATO SALAD YOU WILL EVER EAT
- SLICED GARDEN TOMATOES
TUESDAY- GRILLING DAY
Grilling again! And on the grill tonight is a great and very savory salmon! Salmon is a hearty fish and works very well on the grill! This yummy recipe is from Dinner At The Zoo.
- GRILLED SALMON WITH GARLIC AND HERBS
- GARLIC GRILLED CORN ON THE COB
- ARUGULA SALAD WITH TOASTED PINE NUTS, SHAVED PARMESAN IN LEMON VINAIGRETTE
- SLICED TOMATOES
WEDNESDAY- GRILLING DAY, AGAIN!
The grill master at our house is Bobby! So tonight he will be putting a couple well-marinaded pork tenderloins on his grill. And the leftovers will be add-ins to salads at lunch!
THURSDAY- PASTA NIGHT
This pasta recipe from My Crazy Good Life is fantastic! Thanks, Becca for giving us the Instant Pot, Slow Cooker, and Stove Top version of this yummy recipe.
FRIDAY- EASY DINNER NIGHT
Zucchini is growing like weeds in Lancaster Co! And this is one of the best years for corn I can remember! So it’s a treat to put these iconic summer veggies in a gorgeous soup for dinner tonight!
I love finding recipes and foodie blogs that are beautiful! And Little Broken is both! Thanks, Katya for this gorgeous, fresh recipe!
- FRESH CORN AND ZUCCHINI CHOWDER
- SLICED GARDEN TOMATOES and LEFTOVER FOCACCIA
SATURDAY- FAMILY DINNER NIGHT
When family and friends come for dinner during the warmer seasons here at the Tanglewood House we are all about grilling great food and dining al fresco!
Tonight’s dinner is a marinated flank steak with one of my favorite summery no-cook sauces I can make with herbs growing in the herb garden! Thanks, Jocely at Grandbaby Cakes.
- MARINADED AND GRILLED SKIRT STEAK WITH CHIMICHURRI SAUCE
- WILD RICE WITH ROSEMARY AND GARLICKY MUSHROOMS
- PANZANELLA SALAD
SUNDAY- COMPANY’S COMING
Company does not mean slaving over the stove or cooking something fancy! In our house, it means making something easy but so so good!
We live close to the Chesapeake Bay and are so spoiled by great crabs. Tonight I’m making delicious and so so easy lump crabcakes. This scrumptious recipe comes from Sally’s Baking Addiction.
- MARYLAND CRAB CAKES WITH LITTLE FILLER
- HOMEMADE TARTAR SAUCE
- CRISP OVEN FRIES
- HOMEMADE COLESLAW

I always love to see what’s on your menu each week. I myself am on WW. I’m not always as faithful at as I should be but it does seem to be the one way I can drop pounds when I stick to it. I was curious how your weight loss with WW is going. I was hoping you’d share. Thanks.
I”m trying hard. But have my ups and downs!
Oh my goodness Yvonne how timely.
I have extra corn on the cob and started searching for a Corn Chowder recipe this morning . I don’t know why I didn’t start with you. The chowder you listed is on my menu tomorrow.
This week I’m including your Magic Rub for Beer can chicken, zucchini tots, your potato salad, crispy Parm potatoes, Tuscan chicken pasta with leftover chicken, your Caesar salad, veggies frittata, and the blueberry cake. I won’t use the salmon cakes this week but I’ve got them saved for another time sounds great as a sandwich with fresh tomatoes onion and lettuce
Silly me why would I look any further than you for great menus and of course your beautiful decorating ideas. I received in the mail an advertisement for Cottage Journal magazine. I believe your dining is pictured on the back cover. Shows fall decos with white pumpkins down the center of the table. Beautiful!
Thanks for all you do
Ann
