On The Menu Week Of August 29th
Need ideas for dinner this week? I have 7 scrumptious dinner menus and 35 delicious recipes just for you! Main dishes, side dishes, salads, soups, breads, desserts, and great tips and ideas for making every meal its best! Here's what's On The Menu week of August 29th.
For me, fall begins on September 1st no matter what the outside temperature and weather! Fall is my very favorite season and I want to celebrate it as long as I can. Because we love to eat seasonally here at StoneGable that means my recipes start to change too! So, here’s what’s On The Menu Week Of August 29th.
Dinner choices become a little hardier and warmer when fall rolls around! We still have a garden full of tomatoes so we are having lots of tomatoes with most of our meals to eat up the remains of summer!
One of my must-make recipes in early fall is this easy and delicious Raw Apple Cake. If you make one thing this week, I hope it will be Raw Apple Cake!
Just made this apple cake!! I followed the recipe exactly except I added 1 tsp of cinnamon to the dry ingredients. (I just couldn’t make apple cake without the cinnamon!) I used 4 small loaf pans to bake it in and it took 50 minutes to bake them.
The taste is a light, mellow, flavorful cake that is not overly sweet and not too heavy. It’s just right!! You’ll be happy you made this apple cake!!

FRIDAY- SOUP DAY
Locally grown cabbage is turning up at our Farmstands! They are huge and so delicious. I can’t help picking a fresh cabbage up to make one of my very favorite soups.
My Nani (grandmother) had a huge influence on the way I cook. She was a simple cook who make incredibly delicious food. She could coax flavor out of anything!
I’m making her Pork And Cabbage Soup! It is so so good! But don’t just take my word…
I love Nani’s recipes. I haven’t made her rice yet, but I have made her chicken dish several times, and we love it. Thank you, Yvonne, for sharing your precious heritage recipes with us.

We should eat pizza more often. It has such wonderful flavors, right? And deep dish pizza is my favorite! Here’s a great recipe from Tina’s Chic Corner. I’ll be buying the dough from a local pizza shop to cut down on meal prep.

THIS WEEK’S SWEET TREAT
This week’s sweet treat is a moist and flavorful quick bread. It answers the age-old question, “what do I do with overripe bananas”?
What makes this banana bread extra special is the sweet and crunchy streusel top!
