How I love the fall! And there is finally a chill in the air! No matter, this weather makes me want to cook! My home smells like slow-roasting stews and soups in the fall… and pumpkin spices! This week is no exception!!! Here’s what’s on the menu week of October 10th…

MONDAY- SOUP DAY

The weather has taken a decidedly colder turn here at Stone Gable and I yearn for a pot of homemade soup simmering away on the stove.

I made the meatballs up ahead so putting this soup together will be easy for a hectic Monday!

Rigatoni Meatball Soup is so easy to make and perfect for a busy day!

TUESDAY- SLOW COOKER

I was so so intrigued at the thought of crispy, fall off the bone chicken in the slow cooker I just had to give it a try! WOW, I can’t wait to see how this works and let you know! A very fascinating and scrumptious looking recipe from Sabrina at Dinner Then Dessert.

I’m adding carrots and celery to the bottom of the slow cooker and putting the chicken on top of them. LOVE the flavor of veggies done like this.

WEDNESDAY

This week’s other-than-chicken-or-beef recipe is smothered pork chops. What a gorgeous dinner from Stephanie at The Cozy Cook!

I’m trying a new source for my pork. I’m on a quest for real tasting pork. Most of it is so ho-hum! I think all the fat was bred out of pigs and that often leaves pork without flavor. So I’m looking at locally sourced pork that has more flavor.

This recipe should kick the taste up a notch or three!

THURSDAY

Salmon cakes are a blast from my childhood past and I’ve made them for decades.

But these are not the salmon cakes I grew up on! I’m infusing them with lots of flavors and Air Frying them! They are delicious!

If you don’t have an Air Fryer, you can bake the or pan fry them.

Make the homemade tartar sauce. It’s so easy and so so delicious!

FRIDAY

Friday dinners are usually easy and fun! Bobby and I love to spend Friday nights watching a good movie or playing a rousing game of Scrabble or Bananagrams!

I’ve made these baked Tacos before from The Cookie Rookie, which are great!

I think I’ll make them beef tacos this week!

SATURDAY

I love the site Julia’s Album! I get the best recipes! I have frozen shrimp in the freezer and was looking for a pasta and shrimp dish. Is it any wonder why I want to try this recipe? Oh, how delicious! Thanks, Julia!

SUNDAY

Oh, such a company-worthy meal and so so easy! I’m so excited to give these roll-ups from April at Whisk It Real Gud! Beautiful meal! Gorgeous presentation!

TREAT OF THE WEEK

It’s pumpkin time! Here’s an easy recipe for a delicious pumpkin infused coffee cake. And it’s topped with a sweet and crunchy streusel and a smooth vanilla glaze!

Pumpkin is the taste of Fall and Pumpkin Spice coffee cake is a real treat!

  1. Thank-you!
I always look forward to your menu choices!
Wishing you a super great day and week!
    Take care!

    1. I had lost a recipe I had using lemon zest in short bread cookie, so thanks for this cookie recipe!

  2. Yvonne, I read your menu ideas every week and they inspire me to put my meal plan together. Smothered pork chops, salmon patties and a big pot of soup will be going on my menu too.

Hi Yvonne, I’m searching for the mini pumpkin dessert that you featured not too long ago in the weekly meal plans. Maybe treat of the week? Can you help me find it? Thanks!

    1. Oh goodness, Pam! There are so many pumpkin desserts I have featured. You can go back and look at the On The Menus and look for the pumpkin recipe you are searching for. Just a suggestion… when you see something you like make sure to pin it!

I am looking forward to trying lots of these great recipes Yvonne. I tried a few days ago to make a recipe for a cookie I read about that is a custom for the Hindu faith, which a friend of mine follows. It was for their Festival of Light celebrated in early November. I was not successful with that cookie. It required a candy thermometer which I didn’t have, so long story short, my cookie balls turned out to be a cookie “crumble”. I still love the flavor of them however, with the cardamom, so will try to use those crumbles in these no bake cookie balls you shared. I am sure they will be unique and my friend might just not realize my “total fail” with her traditional cookies. 🙂

    1. I can tell you about so many “fails” in the kitchen, lol! What a great idea to put the crumbles in the featured cookies! YUM!

Had to come back to these today as getting them pinned yesterday was not working. So glad I got to pin them today ~ they all sound and look so yummy! I do a meatless taco that has all the typical ingredients, plus black beans and Trader Joe’s Cowboy Salsa. So good!
Looking forward to trying the shrimp dish. I do a meatless (also 🙂 spaghetti with Kalamata Green Olives, Fire Roasted Tomatoes, Trader Joe’s Pesto in a jar, with 21 Seasonings, Garlic, Italian Grinder that is a hit with my family! Happy cookin’ ~~~

  6. This week’s recipes sound so yummy! I have two questions. The description for the Rigatoni Soup mentions 2/3 cup of red wine but the actual recipe says 1/3. Which is correct? The French Onion Smothered Pork Chops sound delicious but the recipe does not list any onions. Is this correct? Thanks in advance for the clarifications.

  7. Hi Alissa, I do the best I can. The recipe and image came from another amazing foodie site.

  8. Diana Link says:

Hi, your recipe of Cheater’s chicken potpie is no longer on your website. I had it saved on my Pintrest. It shows a picture of a lock. I have navigated through all of your recipes. Is it not available? I will purchase a copy if available, please.
I hope I receive a reply, this is my second request.
    God bless you always.

    Thank you~
    Diana

    1. Hi Diane, Many of my older recipes got lost because of a tech glitch when I changed my site design. So sorry. I do not have another copy. Maybe this winter I’ll repost it.
