Let’s style our kitchen or dining room tables with pretty, easy to create winter centerpieces! These will take minutes to put together!

CENTERPIECE WITH CANDLES AND PINECONES

Simplicity is my winter buzzword. Simplicity with warmth and texture!

I’m not a fan of using evergreens or Christmas trees after Christmas. I look towards the season ahead of me rather than what has passed, decoratively speaking!

To make things easy I used the same tray on our dining area table for the four winter centerpieces.

CENTERPIECE WITH CANDLES AND PINECONES

This is such a pretty tray. It’s part of the Kelly Clarkson collection at Wayfair. You can see it HERE. It’s a very attractive and long tray, and I just love it! Perfect for filling up a good deal of the center of a table.

And with just a few things I found in the basement, I’ve created 4 winter centerpieces!

EASY WINTER CENTERPIECE

The first centerpiece is a nod to the colder weather of winter.

It took minutes to put together. I found some lighter wood candlesticks, battery operated candles and a combination of pinecones.

Snowy and sparkly pinecones were scattered in the tray. You could use lots of pinecones to cover the bottom of the tray if you like that look.

I really love the look of the whitewashed rattan on the bottom of the tray for this winter centerpiece so I used pinecones sparingly.

WINTER TRANSITIONAL VIGNETTE

Transitional decor is something that can go from one season into the next.

The remainder of the vignettes will work now and you will be able to use it into the spring.

Really they could work almost any time of year.

WINTER CENTERPIECE WITH FERNS, CANDLES IN A BASKET

I love the look of organics during the winter months! They brighten up our homes and bring life into any room they grace!

For this winter centerpiece, I used the same tray and candles, removed the pinecones and added faux ferns in white pots.

Again this vignette is simple and clean looking! This winter centerpiece it is a harbinger of things to come!

DINING AREA LOOKING INTO THE KITCHEN

I think this will be the winter centerpiece I’ll keep on the table through early spring!

It’s simple, with clean lines and a bit of organic green. What’s not to love!

The evenings still get dark early so the candles on timers will give this vignette a pretty soft glow!

PERFECT FOR COMPANY

Remember the days when we had company for dinner? I’m longing for them. Hopefully this spring!

So with just a couple quick changes I can style another transitional centerpiece.

CLOSE UP OF FERNS IN A BASKET TRAY

I think this is perfect for company because of the low profile of the centerpiece.

Everything is low but because it is long it still has presence!

I traded out two tall candlesticks for three white, stout candleholders with slightly uneven top edges.

White pots with faux ferns run down the center of the tray mixed in with the candleholders.

And to give it a bit of interest to the centerpiece, texture, and fun I added some corks.

Bobby and I have a cork collection of the wines we drink.

You would think there was enough texture in the tray, and you would be right. But the candleholders and fern pots are white and smooth so a bit more texture won’t hurt!

CORKS IN A BASKET TRAY

Texture is a very important part of decorating. It’s a gorgeous thing when done right. To see more about how to incorporate texture in your designs go to THE BEST KEPT DECORATING SECRET.

A BIT OF EARLY SPRING

Yes, this is a winter centerpiece! And a spring one too! This is a wonderful, happy dose of looking forward!

WINTER CENTERPIECE WITH FERNS, CANDLES IN A BASKET

By replacing the ferns in the winter centerpiece above with white tulips I created a softer, more romantic feeling vignette!

I seriously love tulips. And white tulips are my all-time, forever-love, favorites!

CLOSE UP OF WHITE TULIPS

I took tulips I had on my desk, cut them down and unceremoniously dropped them into the white pots. It should never look like you tried to hard to arrange tulips.

They are the most beautiful when they are a little unkempt!

You might like HOW TO CARE FOR CUT TULIPS SO THEY LAST LONGER.

Because this arrangement would be marvelous for company, or family or any dinner really, it has a low and long profile.

Here are a few things to remember when creating a centerpiece for a table…

  • keep it simple
  • run the centerpiece down 2/3 the length of the table if you can
  • keep it low profile if you are using it when you eat
  • candle glow is important
  • organics bring life to a table
  • think about texture

Now you have four simple and pretty winter into spring centerpieces you can use right now!

Yvonne,I agree with you about over doing it with evergreens after Christmas. I always think I should leave some around because at first they look so pretty ,but I quickly tire of them and look for something else. I like your suggestion of ferns and candles. My orchids have some fabulous blooms on them this month so I have placed them more prominently in vignettes. I also have some pretty Amaryllis still in bloom so I can hold off on buying any flowers yet. Real flowers are so mood lifting on these cold days.

Fantastic ideas for January! What is your favorite brand of battery operated candles? I seem to have bad luck with investing in them and then not getting enough years of use out of them.

Jill, I’ve had good luck with those bought at Costco – I buy the batteries there too. I have two sets – both bought at Christmas time – one package with four, all the same size, and a set of five, varying length with a “wavy” edge and a flickering wick – and those came with a remote which works well on my mantle. Those all take AA batteries. I’ve bought colored candles at Hobby Lobby. They take AAA batteries. I don’t think those last as long.

    2. Jill, there are so many good brands on the market. But you get what you pay for. Always look for candles that have timers or remote controls.

  3. Looks so clean and fresh for the New Year. Really like how you can transform to Spring without much work! Thanks for the great ideas!
